As a player representing CCS, I do realize that my behavior both on and off the court/field does reflect upon both the school I represent and myself. Therefore, I will act in a way that will not bring shame to our team, our school, but most importantly, God. In order to achieve this I will:
Encourage good sportsmanship from fellow players, coaches, officials, and parents during every game and every practice by being an example and showing good sportsmanship myself.
Make every attempt to attend every practice and game that I can.
Do the very best that I can to listen and learn from coaches, in order to make myself better and so the team can grow stronger as one unit.
Treat all coaches, players, officials, and fans with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or abilities and will expect them to treat me accordingly.
Encourage my parents and friends to support the team in a positive manner, realizing that their actions reflect upon the school as well.
Remember that sports is an opportunity for me to learn and to grow, not only physically, but also ethically and spiritually.
Not encourage or take part in any actions that will reflect badly upon myself as a Christian, our school, or our team.

Each coach may nominate up to four players from their team for All-League honors. Players should be listed in the order the coach believes they should be considered, based on both skill level and a competitive, Christ-centered attitude. While coaches are not required to vote according to the listed order, the nominations may help guide the decision of the MCL. Final selections will be made in early October.

MOUNTAIN CHRISTIAN LEAGUE GUIDELINES FOR SOCCER
Updated 11-10-21
Article 1:
NFHS rules govern play The NFHS soccer rules book will be followed.
Article 2:
Field and game information The home team will provide a regulation field. As soccer field size is loosely defined, field size must be reasonable. The quality of the field surface should be consistent and safe. Games are played with 11 players. If a team has fewer than 9 players, that team forfeits. Game length (typically 80 minutes: two 40-min halves with a 10-min halftime) may be modified game to game based upon unanimous agreement between both teams and the referee. This may be necessary in the case of injuries, darkness, inclement weather, etc. If regulation ends in a tie, the game remains a tie, except during the season-ending tournament. For the tournament, the tie will be broken by two 5-minute overtimes, the second one sudden death. If the tie still remains, it will be broken by a 5-shot penalty shoot-out. If the tie still remains, it will be broken by a sudden death penalty shoot-out.
Article 3: Officials
Due to safety concerns, certified officials are required for varsity competition. Furthermore, two certified officials are recommended, or one certified official and two line judges. If certified officials are unavailable, the host team must communicate before the competition in a timely manner so both teams can come to a mutually acceptable solution. If certified officials are not provided by the host team, the game shall not be played in an official capacity, and shall be forfeited by the host team or rescheduled if possible, unless both athletic directors decide to waive this rule and come to a mutually acceptable solution. Article 4: League standings and season-ending tournament The standings for the end of the season will be determined by overall record in league play. If there is a tie for any position, tie-breaking procedures are sequential as follows: 1) Head-to-head contests. 2) Point spread in head-to-head contests between the tied teams. 3) Teams records against the highest ranked teams in the league will be compared, in descending order of rank, until the tie is broken. 4) Point spread against the other teams in the league will be compared, in descending order of rank, until the tie is broken. The season-ending league standings will determine seeding in the season-ending tournament. Only the top eight teams at the end of the season will qualify for the season-ending tournament. The tournament will be single-elimination format with a consolation bracket.
Article 5:
Admission for spectators It is up to each MCL member to determine whether or not to charge admission for league games. Admission for spectators will not be charged for MCL season-ending tournament games. Team entry fees will be charged to cover costs for tournaments.
Article 6:
League scores and schedules Overall schedules and scores for each varsity game must be reported to the MCL website.
-
Safety Concern: Never slide tackle from behind, no matter what the score or situation. Slide tackling from behind carries a much higher risk of serious injury.
Safety Concern: Avoid playing younger or smaller players on defense or as goalie. Older, stronger forwards playing against younger, smaller defenders carries a higher risk of injury for the smaller players. Younger, smaller players should be forwards or midfielders.
Purposeful action should be taken to communicate encouragement toward the opponent, especially in a lopsided contest.
Purposeful action should be taken to avoid “running up the score” when opponents are not equally matched.
Players shall never trash-talk.
Players must be instructed how to go through the handshake line at the end of a contest. Players should look their opponents in the eyes, shake their hands, etc. Players should not be permitted to take off their jerseys, avoid eye contact, be on their phones, wear headphones or earbuds, or not participate in any other way.
-
MCL rules are a mix of NFHS and Modified FIFA. Normal soccer rules shared by both groups apply. These notes are intended to clarify where there might be confusion.
1. The head coach and captains will attend the pre-game conference; these notes will be stated during the conference. There will be a coin toss at this conference. The winner of the coin toss may choose side or kick-off.
2. Games are played with 11 players. If a team has fewer than 9, that team forfeits.
3. Unless modified by unanimous agreement, the home team typically will wear dark jerseys and socks; the visiting team will wear white jerseys and socks. The goalie jersey will distinctly contrast both teams.
4. Unless modified by unanimous agreement, game length is typically 80 minutes: two 40-min halves with a 10-min halftime. Modification may be necessary in the case of injuries, darkness, inclement weather, etc.
5. Official game time is kept by the referee, with stoppage time added according to his/her discretion.
6. If regulation ends in a tie, the game remains a tie, except during the season-ending tournament.
7. Substitutions are allowed by either team during any stoppage with permission of the referee.
8. Any player who receives a yellow card must immediately sub out until the next stoppage.
9. Any player who receives a red card must immediately sub out and the team must play short-handed for the remainder of the contest. Furthermore, said player is ineligible for the next league game.
10. The referee’s authority on the field will not be questioned.

Chemical changes and sometimes damage to brain cells.
